Alexandra Munroe (she/her) is a Brooklyn-based writer and director. She is most interested in writing for the stage and screen, but also loves writing podcasts and audio dramas.
Originally from Long Island, Alex attended Purchase College where she received a BA in Playwriting/Screenwriting. During her time at Purchase, she directed student works, co-artistic directed, and later co-produced, the POV Film and Theatre Festival. She also co-hosted a weekly radio show on the student-run radio station WPSR.
Alex is also graduate from NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. She wrote book and lyrics for Carmilla: A New Rock Musical, with Topher Paolucci for her year-two thesis project. Alex has also written book & lyrics for Bari: The Abandoned Princess alongside Yejune Kim. Bari debuted at TADA! as a part of the Spark Theatre Festival in New York City in November 2023.
In 2020, she began writing and developing Murphy, a new audio drama, with Annie Vee, Derek Sherry, and Drew Burt. Murphy has been named one of the Top 100 Science Fiction Podcasts by Goodpods, and has had over 100,000 streams across all its platforms.
In February 2024, she made her theatre directing debut with her short play Reykjavík as a part of the Tank Theatre’s Moonlight Series.
In December of 2025, Alex’s TV Pilot Eastwood was a Quarterfinalist in the Vail Screenplay Contest.
Alex is the owner and founder of Ghostly Muse Productions, a company focused on the distribution and production of audio-based stories.
When Alex isn’t writing, she’s going for walks, reading, and hanging with her cats.
